Snehaullal debuts in Kannada industry

Hindi film actress Sneha Ullal, whose family roots are in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, is finally making her Kannada debut through ‘Devi’ opposite Madhu Bangarappa, brother of actor-turned-politician Kumar Bangarappa.
Sneha said she had finally realized her dream of acting in a Kannada film. Though her family speaks Kannada, Sneha, who was brought up outside Kannada, is an alien to the language. “I explored several projects in the past, but liked the script of Devi as it provides me ample scope,” she added.
Madhu, who manages the Akash Audio, recently produced a Kannada film titled ‘Kallarali Hoovigi’, which did not fare well at the Box Office. The film ‘Devi’ is being directed by Ishwar, an understudy of renowned action film-maker K V Raju.
The story revolves around a slum boy, played by Madhu, who happens to be the brother-in-law of ‘Hatrick Hero’ Shivarajkumar in real life. Ishwar claimed that ‘Devi’ had a straight subject and would be shot for 70 days at several locations in Karnataka. The shooting for ‘Devi’ commenced recently in the heritage city Mysore.
Madhu, who would be seen for the first time as a full-time hero, had to shed a lot of weight for the movie. Madhu claimed that he worked out for the last three months before considering himself fit for the big screen presence.
Ishwar has roped in big names for the movie that includes Hindi film actor Ravi Kale, who is fast becoming a popular character artiste in Kannada films. The demand for Ravi Kale rose after ‘Jackie’ in which he plays the lead negative role became a super-hit.
Veteran multi-lingual actor Charan Raj will also be seen in a prominent role. Item girl Mumaith Khan will not only be seen in a hot number, but will also play a major role in the film.
V Sridhar will compose the music for the film and acclaimed personalities Yogaraj Bhat, Upendra, Jayanth Kaikini, Nagathihalli Chandrashekar and Kaviraj have penned the lyrics.
